We were thrilled to gain access to our latest Ballarat project café; DRIVE. This design is located on a popular Golden point intersection that sees a large amount of traffic passing by. Some of the challenges on this project were navigating a large amount of complex planning controls, overlays, parking issues and numerous council mediation meetings, but the end result has seen a great outcome for our clients.
The design brief was to open up a space that would connect people and act as a social hub within the neighbourhood. Material selections on the exterior were limited to try and maintain the identity of the original building, the original rotunda was striped back repainted and Architectural linings added, with the original floors being ground back to give a new industrial feel to the main building while retaining the original garage windows. New custom Architectural door and windows have been inserted into one of the existing roller door openings, with a full commercial kitchen added and a AS1428 compliant toilet wash room, to carter for all mobility and access requirements.
The build has a beautiful timber bar that connects the dining and meals areas that allows stunning sunset view over Peel Street. We would like to thank our clients for selecting to partner with us to produce this amazing space in Golden Point and wish them and their business every success in the future.
